- This is a self-directed course for the advanced student to fulfill portfolio requirements used in college admissions. The student is expected to research requirements of universities and explore a variety of media and techniques. A portfolio will be required at the end of each semester and will comprise the semester grade. Research on various artists should be included on a weekly basis in article reviews as homework.
The purpose of the National Art Honor Society is to inspire and recognize to those students who have shown outstanding ability in art; to foster excellence and a dedicated spirit to the pursuit of art; further creative abilities and talents of the Society's members,as well as the school's entire enrollment; bring art to the attention of the school and community; aid members working toward the attainment of their highest potential in an art area; increase awareness of art in relation to other areas of the school curriculum; and further aesthetic awareness in all aspects of the school's total program.

This is a portfolio based course which will introduce the student to a variety of watercolor mediums and techniques as well as build upon skills learned in the CP Drawing class. Art production, art criticism, and use of a variety of skills will be documented as the artist grows over time, and culminating in a digital portfolio in power point format showing evidence of this growth.- Teacher: Karen Van Metre
This is a portfolio based class which traces the development of the student as artist over time. Four basic concepts are explored in this introduction to drawing: aesthetic theory, art criticism, art history, and art production. A variety of media and techniques will be explored over the year, culminating in the production of a required digital portfolio in power point format of all work produced by the student over the course of the year...showing growth as an artist!
